The debut sci-fi movie by director Charles Bryan about the "paranormal" phenomenon of shadow beings (shadow people). Rehearsals started about the middle of September 2003 and actual shooting started in October. The production was shot only on Saturdays and Sundays, actors and weather permitting, for an average of four hours each day. In retrospect, they needed at least twice as many hours per day.
The first scene rehearsed was "Séance". This took up the rest of September since there were a couple iterations due to actor changes. Originally, Ms. Conn was supposed to play the part of Natasha. A perfect fit... but she decided just before shooting that she was going to back down due to other obligations. She and her friend (playing Kat) left the project, and a few days later the production was introduced to Katie Reynolds who went from Kat to Natasha. Finally they found a Kat, Heather Danielle, and they rehearsed the Seance scene one more time around January of 2004.
They had some bluescreen issues. Their inexperience allowed them to light the scenes poorly and thus Charles Bryan had a difficult time keying the scenes. He spent over 1000 hours in post-production just on the bluescreen scenes.
With the time constraints and with not being able to re-shoot, some of the scenes suffered. There also wasn't a script supervisor thus some of the script isn't represented correctly.
Overall, despite the downfalls, production went well considering the facts that this is Charles Bryan's first movie, there was almost no money, and all cast and crew were volunteers. Charles was told it couldn't be done, making a feature length movie with no money. He proved otherwise.
